A black Toyota Allion stolen from a Kenyan couple living in Eldoret was recovered on Saturday in a garage at Ndeeba, a suburb in Kampala by the Uganda Flying Squad.

According to the Uganda Flying Squad Commandant Herman Owomugisha, the vehicle has since been handed back to the owners Grace Sugut and her husband Patrick Chege.

Speaking at Central Police Station in Kampala on Saturday, Owomugisha added that a suspect arrested in the suburb in Rubaga division, is assisting police with investigations on a ring operating in major East African cities as authorities seek lead to the recovery of other vehicles stolen and sold across the East African borders.

Owomugisha said the car, registration number KBY 328B, was found following a tip-off from an informant.

He said the police were alerted when a buyer asked mechanics to change the vehicle's windows, and the number plate to UAW 088W.

"Our operatives found some mechanics attempting to write Ugandan number plates on the screens. The original number plates had been removed and replaced with new ones," he said.
