A day after KDF killed three al Shabaab fighters who attacked them in Basuba, Lamu East, the military has intensified the hunt for those who escaped.
KDF spokesperson David Obonyo said many of the militants who escaped had serious bullet wounds.
On Wednesday, a KDF vehicle ran over an IED planted by the militia on the Basuba-Mangai route that is constantly used by the military.
The operations have been concentrated in and around Boni Forest.
Areas around Boni have become notorious as militia hideouts.
They include Pandanguo, Milimani, Mangai, Mararani and some parts of Kiunga and Ishakani in Lamu East.
