EACC, DPP given green light to prosecute Alfred Mutua over Bribery allegations

The DPP and the EACC can now go ahead and prosecute Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua over the alleged illegal procurement of motor vehicles for his county after an order barring the probe was lifted.

The court has ruled that Mutua's petition lacks merit. Mutua had moved to court seeking orders to bar EACC from investigating him over the said allegations. The matter will be heard on April 14.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Auditor General says it lacks capacity to audit all 47 counties effectively. Auditor general Edward Ouko says his office is understaffed which leads to poor auditing.
