A row is simmering between the two bodies that run football in Kenya.
Kenyan Premier League accuses Football Kenya Federation of disregarding the law in its recent rulings regarding Kenya’s top football league.
Among the decisions made by FKF include overturning a decision by KPL to award an abandoned match between Tusker and Muhoroni to the former.
KPL had penalized Muhoroni for abandoning the match after they claimed that Tusker had fielded 12 players.
FKF in its ruling fined the four match officials as well as the Tusker team coach and manager then awarded Muhoroni two goals plus the three points.
In another instance, FKF overturned a ruling by KPL to award a match to AFC Leopards after their opponents Sony Sugar failed to show up.
KPL claims that this has been the trend over the last two years.
“Over the last two years there has been a growing disrespect by FKF for the rule of law in Kenyan football as well as increasing interference in the established appeals procedures and work of the independent judicial bodies.” A statement by KPL read.
The KPL ExCo members on Thursday asked the KPL CEO Jack Oguda to convene an urgent meeting of the KPL Governing Council on Friday morning to further discuss the way forward.
