VIDEO: Match abandoned in Israel after player and fan fight

Derby matches are known to be highly-charged affairs and tempers flare fast and easy. A derby game played on Monday in Israel was not exception to that as a fight between a fan who had invaded the pitch and a player caused the match to be abandoned.

Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Tel Aviv were meeting for the 147th time in a league fixture and with the score at 1-1 in the 32nd minute, a bare-chested fan invaded the pitch to confront Eran Zahavi, a Maccabi player who had earlier taunted Hapoel fans after converting a penalty that leveled the scores for the visitors.

Zahavi, who was later shown a red card Roi Reinschreiber for retliation, exchanged kicks and blows with the fan and even though the fan was later removed from the field of play, the damage had already been done as more fans invaded the pitch forcing the match officials to abandon the game.
