The parents of a Nairobi lawyer who allegedly killed his wife and three children before he committed suicide have blamed their son’s faith for the tragedy.
Paul Magu's mother Keziah Wambui said her son joined a cult a few years ago.
Wambui, who is a teacher at Rurii Primary School in Kiganjo, Thika, said Magu was recruited into the cult by two of his friends whom she identified only as Ann and Kariuki.
“My son prayed with Ann in Muthaiga on Saturdays. I visited the room they prayed from and found ungodly items. There was a huge screen where they would lay hands on whenever their Nigerian-based leader and self-proclaimed prophet was preaching or praying,” Wambui said.
Magu's father Samuel Muhiu said his son had a spiritual problem.
He said Magu would make frequent flights to Nigeria.
“To him going to Nigeria every month was like going to Nairobi,” Muhiu said.
Wambui said two years ago, Magu said he might commit suicide.
"Whenever he was depressed, he told me he will be hit by a lorry or bus," she said.
Magu's wife Lydia was found murdered on Kiambu road on November 24.
Magu's children Allen, Ryan and Tiffany went missing before his body was found on the Nairobi-Garissa highway..
Tiffany’s mutilated body was found near Tatu City, Kiambu, on Monday.
