Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria will not be prosecuted over hate  messages he allegedly made last year on his Facebook page, the matter will instead be settled out of court through a conciliatory meeting.

In a letter to Law Society of Kenya CEO Apollo Mboya, the National Commission of Integration and Cohesion  said on Friday that it will hold a conciliatory meeting with Kuria over the matter at its offices on Monday.

“Whereas the commission is  mandated to promote conciliation and similar forms of dispute resolution mechanism in order to secure and enhance ethnic and racial harmony and peace in the country and the court has granted leave to pursue an out of court settlement in the matter...you are required at the commission’s offices at KMA Centre, 6th floor, Mara Road, Upper Hill, on the 12th January 2015, for purposes of a conciliatory meeting,” the letter from NCIC secretary Hassan Mohammed  reads.

Both the NCIC and LSK had in May last year, recommended to the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko that Kuria should face charges for hate messages posted on his Facebook page targeting a specific community. They had told the DPP that the comments incite the public to violence on a specific community and may plunge the country into  chaos.
