Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Ahero Ward, Maurice Onyango Aloo, is admitted at Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu after he was shot in the thigh by thugs who raided his home on Sunday night.
A close family friend, Justus Nyamolo, said the assailants struck Aloo’s home in Ahero at 8:30pm after sneaking into the bedroom, one wielding a rifle while the other had a shot gun. The thugs demanded to be given money.
"Aloo gave the robbers Sh10, 000 which he had at the time but they demanded for more cash but since he could not produce any, they shot him on the thigh leaving the MCA bleeding profusely."
“Like a cornered buffalo staring death in the face, Aloo plunged himself forward grabbing the one who shot him even as he continued firing aimlessly missing the target”, Nyamolo said.
In the confusion that ensued, the attackers took to their heels leaving a mobile phone, a shoe and a jacket which were taken away by the investigating team led by Nyando DCIO.
Nyamolo said it was through divine intervention that Aloo survived.
