A day-old baby boy was found abandoned in a tea plantation near Brooke trading centre on the outskirts of Kericho town on Tuesday evening.
Daniel Kipyegon, a farmhand, found the baby wrapped in a towel while spraying the tea.
Chagaik police station OCS Julius Mbithi said the baby looked a few hours old and was dumped in a bush near a footpath.
Mbithi said the boy is in good health and will be taken to an orphanage.
He was given first aid at Unilever Tea central hospital and then taken to Kericho County hospital.
Mbithi asked anyone with information on the baby's mother to report it to the police.
He said cases of child abandonment and neglect have become rampant in the area's tea estates.
He urged parents to enforce good behaviour to curb the vice.
