Kenyan giants Gor Mahia have signed Rayon Sports leftback Abouba Sibomana and rightback Karim Nizigiyimana for a joint fee of Sh 1.4million ahead of the new Kenya Premier League (KPL) season that starts next month.
The 25-year-old Sibomana, who has been a part of the national football team since 2010, travelled to Nairobi a week ago alongside Nizigiyimana to meet with head coach Frank Nutall, who admitted that the K’Ogalo are always looking around for good players.
Rayon Sports spokesman Aime Emmanuel Niyomusabye confirmed this development and revealed that Gor Mahia paid Sh 730,000 for each of the defenders, who bring along with them massive experience.
“We have let Abouba Sibomana and Karim Nizigiyimana go and we shall surely miss them. They always gave their best to Rayon Sports,” said Niyomusabye, who also revealed that they will be replaced with immediate effect.
Nizigiyimana joined Rayon Sports in July 2010 from Congolese side AS Vita, who he had signed for from SC Kiyovu of Rwanda.
The Burundian international had joined Kiyovu from military side APR FC in 2009. He featured for Vital’O in Burundi from 2006-2009.
Rayon Sports currently sit in fourth position with 21 points at the end of first round and have struggled to register a win since Congolese trainer Andy Magloire Mfutila took over the Nyanza based club in November.
The duo join new signings Ugandan Khalid Aucho, Burundian Pierre Kwizera, Ghanaian Taofiq Zachary, Michael Olunga, Ali Abondo and Boniface Oluoch as Gor Mahia seeks to win a third consecutive league title and a record 15th.
