Indian girl Sarika Patel and her 'Bukusu darling' have broken up over alleged abuse and family pressure.

Patel, 24, accused Khamala of physical abuse, adding that neither he nor his parents took care of her when she fell sick in October 2014.

She was reportedly brought to Nairobi for treatment by her parents.

Residents from Webuye, where the couple lived, defended Khamala saying he could not afford the hospital bill.

A group allegedly accompanied him to Nairobi to pick 'their wife', but was unsuccessful.

Patel was going to be Khamala's second wife.

Khamala refuted her claims but did not give more information.

The two, who had been engaged for six months, were living together, defying the wishes of Sarika's parents.

One of the reasons for their disapproval was that Khamala was a 'hustler', whereas the Patels own several businesses in Western Kenya.

Nzoia Sugar Company intervened offering to hire Sarika as a procurement officer and Khamala as a casual labourer.

Patel is now with her parents in Nairobi.

She said her hope had been to inspire Asians in relationships with Kenyans.

She is the fourth born in a family of seven.
