Kenya bagged a total of 15 medals at the East and Central Africa judo championship in Moshi, Tanzania over the weekend.
The performance saw Kenya retain their second position from last year, behind defending champions and hosts Tanzania while Uganda were third.
The team managed two gold medals, five silver and eight bronze medals. The team travelled with 18 players and 15 managed to bag the medals.
Diana Kana and Cecilia Wangechi won gold in their respective under-63kgs and under-78kgs categories to put Kenya on the offensive.
Africa silver medallist Esther Akinyi led the silver medallists in the under-78kgs as Esther Ikiungu and Irene Kanyiri bagged bronze in the under-70kgs and under-48kgs categories respectively.
Amos Aori (under-81kgs), Elvis Nato (under-90), Patrick Wakaba (under -100kgs) and George Kimani (over-100kgs) bagged silver medals in the men’s edition.
Tobias Yungu bagged bronze in the under-81kgs alongside Samson Wambi (under-90kgs) and Isaak Kinyanjui (under-73kgs).
