A youth group at the Kongowea Market is collecting KES 100,000 everyday from the rehabilitated six toilet blocks.
The toilets were rehabilitated last September by NGO Maji na Ufanisi.
The organisation’s Coast region coordinator Hamisi Zaja said 60 members of Mwaga-Taka Community Based Organisation are now employed through the project.
Zaja said the lowest earner gets KES 10,000 and the highest KES 30,000 a month.
She said the toilets had been neglected for long.
