Grief has struck the Ugandan entertainment industry following the unexpected death of dancehall musician Ak47 at a hospital in Kampala on Monday night.
Ak47, real name Emmanuel Mayanja, was brother to three other popular Ugandan musicians namely Joseph Mayanja (Jose Chameleon), Douglas Mayanja (Weasel) and Pius Mayanja (Pallaso).
According to an by newvision.co.ug, AK47's seems to be shrouded in mystery as initial reports claimed that he died at Nsambya Hospital after he was rushed there following a bathroom accident but subsequent reports suggested that he died as a result of injuries he got in a bar fight at Kampala's Kabalagala's area.
The latter version however supported the bathroom accident claim as it was reported in the article that AK47 slipped in the bathroom as he was cleaning himself of the bruises he got in the fight.
AK47's comes less than a year after his father, Gerald Mayanja,
However reports by Police investigating his death indicate that AK47 must have died as a result of injuries from a fight. The police suspect foul play in his death and newvision.co.ug quoted the Kabalagala Police Criminal Investigations boss Nusulah Kemigisha as saying, "We suspected foul play after realising the body had bruises on the chest and we decided to close the bar as investigations take shape."
The bar in which the incident occurred is known as DEJAVU and it is owned by Jeff Kiwanuka who was once the manager of the Goodlyfe Music Group.
AK47's brothers were understandably distraught and inconsolable following his death as tributes to him poured in from fellow artistes and fans.
Jose Chameleone and Pallaso have paid tribute to their brother through their Instagram and Facebook profiles respectively with both claiming that they have lost a brother and a friend.
