Four Killed And 12 Injured In Kinungi Accident

Two people were killed on the spot and 12 others were injured when a lorry rammed into two vehicles in Kinungi, Naivasha on Monday evening.

Two others died shortly after arrival at the Naivasha subcounty hospital following the 5PM accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

The accident occurred after a lorry hit a matatu parked by the roadside and a private car before rolling several times, a witness, John Mwangi, said.

Mwangi said that the driver of the lorry, which was heading to Nakuru, was speeding. It is also suspected that the vehicle had developed mechanical problems.

Seven of the victims are admitted at the hospital in critical condition, a doctor said.

He added that two others with serious head injuries were taken to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialised treatment.

The wreckage of the vehicle was towed to the Naivasha Police Station.
