Human rights activist Al Amin Kimathi appeared in court on Thursday where he charged with assaulting and injuring his ex-wife, Farida Saad, as well as the principal, Fatuma Ali, of a school, Anda Lucia Academy in Nairobi's South B, which his ex-wife is the director.
Kimathi did not answer to the charges as the prosecution was to amend errors on the charge sheet.
Kimathi is also accused of damaging the school’s property worth KES 17,500.
Police say he had visited the school to pick up one of his daughters when he quarreled with Saad.
When Saad and Fatuma stood in court to face him, Kimathi said he could not identify his ex-wife between the two because they were dressed in hijab.
He sought a deferment of his plea, accusing the prosecution of not indicating the exact time he allegedly assaulted the two.
Makadara chief magistrate Heston Nyaga deferred the plea taking until September 22.
