The Kenyan government on Tuesday honored outgoing Tanzanian president Jakaya Kikwete by naming a city road after him.
The Nairobi County government has officially renamed Milimani Road in Nairobi's Upperhill area to Jakaya Kikwete road. The Tanzanian head of state was in the country for an official state visit.
Speaking at the launch of the road, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero said the honor was accorded to Kikwete because of the close relationship between Kenya and Tanzania.
Kidero also took pride in Nairobi being the last city to honour Kikwete by naming a road after him during his tenure as the president of Tanzania.
