Season 2015 Sportpesa Premier League topscorer Jesse Were has said that finishing the year as the league's topscorer with 22 goals was never on his mind when the season began.
Speaking to fellow players Anthony Kimani and Charles Okwemba in the Radio Jambo studio during the Weekend Warm Up show on Saturday, Jesse revealed that his target for the season was to score 20 goals and he was happy with himself that he surpassed the target and ended up as the season's topscorer.
Were's success brought a smile on the faces of Tusker fans who endured a rather difficult season as their team finishing 5th with 44 points.
"I did not envision to finish the season as topscorer as I only targeted to score 20 goals something which I had not done before," Were said.
"I am glad that my efforts paid off and I get to carry the gong despite stiff competition from Michael Olunga," he added.
Olunga finished 3 goals behind Were in second place and Were credited his success to his teammates and worked on a particular set of skills which he purposed to perfect daily.
Asked which goal was his best from the two he scored, Were picked the first goal he scored against AFC Leopards on the last day of the season in a 3-1 win for Tusker.
