The Mombasa County Stadium is set for a facelift following its closure to pave way for renovations works.
According to the facility's manager, Hamid Kiduwazi, once renovations are complete, athletes will get to enjoy sharpening their skills at the sports venue. Among the renovations is the upgrading to a modern tartan track and other world-class training equipment.
The project is being funded by the County Government of Mombasa.
The stadium will be ready for use again sometime in February next year.
In 2013, KES 20 million was used to upgrade facilities at the stadium so that it could be ready to host that year's CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup which was won by Harambee Stars.
The Mombasa County Stadium is also used to host home matches for a number of coastal football teams including Kenyan Premier League side Bandari FC.
