Former First Lady Lucy Kibaki was rushed to hospital on Thursday night after falling ill at her home in Muthaiga, Nairobi.
Mama Lucy, who is wife to former President Mwai Kibaki, is said to have been rushed to the Gertrude Children's Hospital for "emergency" care before she was transferred to the Nairobi Hospital.
"It is true that the wife of the Former president is here. In fact, she has been taken to the ICU," a source at the hospital told The Star on phone.
The source said Lucy, who has been missing in the public radar since 2010, is experiencing breathing difficulties.
In 2014, Lucy was rushed to hospital after she reportedly complained of chest pains. She was taken to hospital by family members and admitted in St Teresa’s Ward.
There has been various speculations of the whereabouts and health condition of the First Lady since 2012.
Her lively and energetic jig as she celebrated the ushering in of the new constitution on the dais in Uhuru Park was her last public function covered by the media.
After that The First Lady kept an "uncharacteristic low profile" and did not attend any public function.
