The suspect, Samuel Kiberenge who is a brother to Konyu location chief Jeremiah Muraya had visited the 40 year-old girl friend at her home on Monday evening at Munengere village but met George Maina, 28 there.
The 42-year- old, Kiberenge later tricked Maina to accompany him away at the farm where he stabbed him seven times to death.
A shocked villager Paul Wachira said the girlfriend escaped death narrowly in the darkness after sensing danger.
The man is currently out of court on a bond after he was charged for murder of his girlfriend Winrose Gathoni two years ago.
The suspect later took poison trying to kill himself but was later rushed to Karatina District Hospital where he is admitted in critical condition.
Locals have now vowed to take law into their hands if the suspect will not be jailed for life.
