Losing even ten bob will send many of us screaming at anyone, demanding to know if they have seen the coin.

Being conned is something people don't like to admit to, however there are instances when cases are reported in the media because of the number who have lost money. Here is a list of the craziest ways Kenyans are conned.

1. Pyramid Schemes

We all remember reading the sad story of a man who jumped from a highrise building in Nairobi after losing his money to a ponzi scheme.

The pyramid scheme at the time was referred to as DESI, that promised to double Kenyans money. People lost their savings, retirement money and some went as fa as taking loans to win big.

2. Fake currency scams

Foreign nationals with the help of Kenyans gang up to con unsuspecting people of moeny. Just six days ago, a Kenyan MPis said to have lost Sh76million after three Mali nationals after being asked to bring money for some form of a miracle. The MP has lost land, a car among other valuables so far.

3. Couple working to con people

These kind of scammers have the ability to get people to believe them. They operate online schemes and it is difficult to spot their tricks. For instance;

A Kiambu couple conned investors by promising to double their cash deposits but later disappeared after collecting Sh1 Billion.

The two, back in 2014, supposedly convinced people that they would use their capital to trade stock worldwide.

Their 'investment' was fake after the couple got more than 1 billion deposits in their account.

The petitioners held that despite serving VIP Portal with demand letters, the forex trader had refused to pay them their dues.

4. Phone scams

Who hasn't experienced this? While some have escaped transferring loads of money to fraudsters, others have not been so lucky.

Some conmen also call people asking for details of their bank accounts, and pole sana if you have fallen for these tricks.
