Port of Durban is the fourth-largest container terminal in the Southern Hemisphere. It has the capability of handling 2.5 million twenty foot equivalent units.
It is the largest shipping terminal in Sub-Saharan Africa.
5. Djibouti
The port of Djibouti is situated at the entrance of the Red Sea and is strategically situated . It is a reliable link between Asian, African and European trade routes.
It has the capability of handling huge number of twenty foot equivalent units and has helped improve Djibouti's economy.
6. Kenya
Mombasa has been one of the most important ports in the East African region. is referred to as 'the city of merchants”', as its construction can be traced back to before the arrival of Portuguese explorers in the region.
The port is served by not only local businesses but those from Uganda and Tanzania as well, via a railway service, and provides those traders with a direct link to 80 ports across the world.
