Peter Tabichi is the worlds best teacher.

Peter Tabichi is a math and physics teacher who has impressed Kenyans with his story of servant leadership.

He is based at Keriko Mixed Day Secondary School, Nakuru.

Peter Tabichi was as the winner of the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize 2019, presented by His Highness Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh @HamdanMohammed Al Maktoum.

HH Sheikh Mohammed praised him saying,

Congratulations to @petertabichi from Kenya for winning the Varkey Global @TeacherPrize . Teachers are the pioneers of development and the true change makers.

He is a Francescan brother who gives 80 per cent of his salary to support local projects. He teaches his community how to grow famine resistant crops and runs a peace club to unite different tribes. Peter also started a talent nurturing club and grew a science club.

In 2018 his students emerged top at the science fair

He is credited with boosting self esteem among students and positively transforming their behavior.

He says ‘do more talk less’.

His speech after winning the prize also made many see why he won the prize

“Every day in Africa we turn a new page and a new chapter. Today is another day. This prize does not recognise me but recognises this great continent’s young people.”
