Nairobi governor Mike Sonko is one man who marches to the beat of his own drums. He recently released a video showing himself chewing khat(miraa) while talking to his followers on one of his social media platforms.
The governor clearly is no conformist. The Nairobi governor does what he pleases, damn his haters.
Khat or qat is a flowering plant native to the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
Khat contains the alkaloid cathinone, a stimulant, which is said to cause excitement, loss of appetite, and euphoria.
The video was taken from Sonko's Instalive video where he was interacting with his fans.
One fan asks Sonko for some money, without blinking an eye, he gives out his number and asks the fan to text his number.
The mheshimiwa promises to send him something small, "right now I don't have Lot so i will send you Ksh 2,000.
