A Nairobi businessman was held hostage by a prostitute for about four hours at a lodging in Embu town on Saturday night.

The prostitute was demanding KES 5 000 from the businessman after she had spent the night with him. The businessman was however refusing to pay the sex worker for her "services" hence prompting the woman lock him in the room in a bid to force him to pay up.

According to those who witnesses the incident, the man had hired the room for the whole of last week but arrived with the woman on Saturday night.

“We heard them quarreling in loud voices, with the woman demanding her KES 5 000 and the man saying he did not have the money,” a witness said.

“The woman vowed she would not unlock the door and was ready for any eventuality as she would not work for nothing," the witness further said.

The man is then said to have shouted for help from the hotel staff to open the door for him and it was after their intervention that the man sought help from a friend who sent him the money via M-Pesa at around 10am on Sunday.
