Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi has called upon the residents of Meru to vote out Governor Peter Munya claiming that his regime has been wasting public resources without promoting development.

Speaking during a press briefing Kiraitu hit out at the county government for allegedly spending Sh. 100m on hospitality, partly being tea and flowers.

“I must say that we are concerned by the massive waste of the resources in the county. Hospitality of tea and flowers has gobbled up Sh100m, I own an hotel and with that kind of money you can feed the starving people in Meru and build a hotel, why spend such money on a few officials on tea”, said Kiraitu.

He added that they will not sit and watch the people continue suffering where he called upon the people to stand firm and say no to Munya’s leadership so that they can have an opportunity to change the things happening in Meru.

Meanwhile, Kiraitu Murungi denied claims that he has incited the nurses in Meru to go on strike.

Speaking in Amwamba area of Igembe South, Kiraitu said he was surprised when he heard the allegations from Meru Governor Peter Munya that the politicians have incited the health workers.

“I have not talked to any health worker myself, and I have been away during the entire strike period and Mithika Linturi and Florence Kajuju have not been involved. If somebody has his own problems let him solve them himself”, said Kiraitu.

He added that the problem is the arrogance of the governor of Meru which he claimed will not take Meru anywhere.
