A bodaboda operator yesterday was jailed for three months for stealing Sh6,600 he had been sent with to buy beer for a pub operator.
Gidraf Wanjiru, 27, pleaded guilty before Thika resident magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo. Gidraf stole the money belonging to Catherine Muthoni on December 18 at Kimandi in Gatanga, Murang’a county.
Prosecutor Abdille Ali told the that court Muthoni gave Wanjiru the money to go and buy beer for her at Gatura centre but Wanjiru switched off his phone and disappeared with the money.
On December 30, he was arrested by members of the public and taken to Ndakaini police station.
In another case at the same court, a man found with one roll of bhang was jailed for three months.
Laban Mwangi, 31, pleaded guilty to the charge before Onsarigo.
