Son of slain drug baron Ibrahim Akasha has said police are holding $23,000 (KES 2.1 million) confiscated from his house in Nairobi.
Ibrahim Akasha Abdallah, through lawyer Cliff Ombeta, told a Mombasa court on Friday that the money was omitted from the list of items produced in court.
“I accidentally came across the inventory and to my shock realised the cash was missing from the list without any explanation from the officers,” said Ombeta.
Ombeta filed an application before Chief Magistrate Maxwell Gicheru to direct the officers to return items that will not be used in court as evidence.
He said the money was taken from Ibrahim’s house in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, on November 13, 2014.
