Victor Wanyama nominated for the CAF player of the year award

Kenya national football team captain Victor Mugubi Wanyama has been nominated for the CAF player of the year award.

Wanyama who plies his trade in England was on Monday named among 36 other African footballers for the prestigious award, courtesy of his stellar performances which saw him help EPL side Southampton finish 7th on the log on 60 points their highest ever points tall.

The Kenyan skipper also helped Kenya cruise past Mauritius with a 5-2 aggregate in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Four-time winner, Yaya Toure who captained his country to their first African title in 23 years, is on course for a record 5th title after he was included on the initial 37-man list which also features 24 local based players.

The winner will be announced on 22nd December.
