IEBC's voter registration exercise at Migingo Island in Nyatike Constituency was disrupted, after Ugandan security officers arrested two clerks who were handling the exercise.

The clerks had registered only 20 voters before they were arrested and had their equipment confiscated.

According to the Migingo Island Beach Management Unit chairman John Obunge, who spoke to The STAR, the Ugandan security officers arrested the clerks after they failed to produce their passports while entering the Island.

Obunge added that it took the intervention of Kenyan officers stationed 200 metres at Ugingo Island to have the clerks released.
The clerks were then housed by Kenyan AP officers and continued registering voters from there.

IEBC is targeting to register 1 931 voters in Muhuru Ward where the Lake Victoria island is located.
