Toboso asked religious leaders to stop stretching their leadership to schools but focus on spiritual nourishment of their flocks.
Addressing an education meeting at Butere girls high school, Toboso urged the clergies to understand their mandate and leave the teaching institutions to the rightful stakeholders.
“Let us separate schools from churches and give teachers their space to deliver. Teachers have been doing a recommendable job in Butere and the church should desist from interfering with them” said Toboso.
Toboso accused Butere ACK Bishop Tim Wambunya of interfering with the running of Butere girls’ high school.
“I am surprised that today the church leadership is poking noses in every institution, it cant work. Let the Bishop perform his duties in the church, teachers take care of schools and politicians play their political roles. Why should we transverse and interfere in running of institutions that don’t fall under our mandate?” said Toboso.
He said churches don’t fund any development program in schools despite claiming to be the sponsors of schools.
“I challenge any one church which claims to sponsor schools to come out and show a single toilet or classroom they have constructed in the school. Most of the infrastructures in schools are build by either the government or parents through fundraising or by the CDF. So why should anyone boast to sponsor a school that he cant fund any small project?” complained Toboso.
