Córdoba's Edimar, who was on the end of the Cristiano Ronaldo kick which led to the Portuguese player's sending off, does not hold a grudge against the Real Madrid man, especially after reading his apology on social networks.
"I don't have a problem with him, I forgive him. I have nothing against Cristiano, whom I think is the best player in the world", he said after the game.
The Brazilian defender played down the incident, which earned the Real Madrid striker a straight red card.
"Cristiano is a great player and this sort of thing could happen to anyone. I see it as just a moment of frustration, something that happened in the heat of the moment, nothing else. The game wasn't going his way and he lost his nerve", said the Córdoba man, who refused to comment on how many games the Portuguese would be banned for.
"I apologise to everyone, especially Edimar, for my impulsive behaviour", the Real Madrid star said after the game. He also looked visibly affected during the trip back to Madrid. Not only did he realise how wrong he had been, but also that he was likely to be slapped with a significant ban.
