A man has been accused of having sex with a sheep several times in Baringo Central Constituency.
Leonard Chemweny was reportedly caught in the act on January 21 at about 1.30pm in Kapsoo village, Kapropita location.
The owner of the sheep Isaac Ingeny said he released a flock to graze and went to a nearby farm but returned when he heard unusual bleating.
“When I rushed to find out what had happened to the sheep, I was shocked to find a man having sex with it. He took to his heels when he saw me approaching,” Ingeny told the court.
He said Chemweny ran into a nearby forest but neighbours and area chief Michael Chemalel helped the police to arrest him.
One Leah Rotich regretted that Chemweny had committed the offence four times before.
“Now that his forty days have ended, may he be a lesson to other people doing this in our community,” said Rotich.
Chemweny denied the charges before Kabarnet resident magistrate Emily Kibet.
He was remanded after failing to raise a Sh100,000 bond.
Chemalel promised to ensure justice is served to deter other offenders.
The case will be mentioned on February 6 and heard on March 9.
