Harambee Stars and Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama turns 24 today and we thought it fit to look back at his blistering career in photos.
From humble beginnings, Wanyama has risen to become a household name in East Africa and there is no denying that future is bright for him.
Having rose to the limelight while featuring for Kamukunji High School in the miid-2000s, Wanyama's potential took time to be realised as he endured spells with JMJ United, Nairobi City Stars and AFC Leopards locally before a move to Europe which did not get off to the best of starts.
His first club in Europe was Helsingborg IF in Sweden. His elder elder brother, McDonald Mariga, played for the club from 2006 to 2007 before moving to Parma in the Italian Serie A. Upon Mariga's move, Wanyama was no longer keen with continuing his stay in Sweden for fear of being alone and therefore returned to Kenya.
It was not long before he was boarding the plane to Europe again but this time his destination was Belgium where he failed a trial at Anderlecht before signing a 4-year contract with Germinal Beerschot.
It was from there that Celtic signed for 900 000 pounds in 2011 before joining Southampton in 2013 for a Scottish record transfer of 12.5 million pounds.
