The football world was rocked on Wednesday with sad news on the passing on of popular Brazilian football fan Clovis Acosta Fernandes at the of 60 from cancer.
Clovis, who has been to seven FIFA World Cups and numerous tournaments and matches that Brazil were featuring in, was like a mascot of the Brazilian national football team and he endeared himself to football fans worldwide with cheery look, trademark hat and a replica FIFA World Cup trophy which he carried everywhere he went and which he was ever cuddling.
He was without doubt the most easily recognizable Brazilian football fan and there would be a feeling of emptiness in the stands the next time Brazil take to the pitch.
Clovis passion and love for the Brazil national football team saw him travel to over 60 countries to watch them play in over 150 games, as you will learn when you watch a profile of him in the video below.
Clovis is however not the only fan to achieve mascot status for a particular as there are many others like him but it must said, none can match his passion and the popularity that he has achieved the world over. He was just not a superfan but an awesome ambassador of Brazilian football and the Brazilian people who nicknamed him "Gaucho da Copa" owing to him being a native of the Rio Grande do Sul state in Brazil.
