Liverpool legend John Barnes will be in the country next week for a three-day visit, Standard Chartered Bank have confirmed.

In a press release, the bank said, that during his visit the 52-year-old will conduct a clinic for several youth team coaches and also have a training session for under-14 youth teams.

"We have selected majority of the children and coaches from our GOAL Corporate Social Responsibility programme which is designed to empower adolescent girls across the country," Standard Chartered CEO Lamin Manjang said.

Manjang also added that Barnes will oversee the Standard Chartered Trophy tournament which will be held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on February 27.

The Standard Chartered Trophy tournament is a corporate 5-a-side challenge and this year's edition will feature 24 teams.

The tournament is in its fourth edition and previous winners are Pan-African Insurance (2013), Standard Media Group (2014) and Postal Corporation of Kenya (POSTA).

The winner of the tournament will win a fully-paid four-day trip to the United Kingdom where they will represent Kenya at the Standard Chartered Trophy finals which will be held at Anfield.

The winners will also attend an English Premier League match at Anfield, and will benefit from a professional training session with Liverpool FC legends and coaches in preparation for the final tournament.

Similar tournaments are held in other countries across Africa, Asia and Europe following the signing of a sponsorship deal between Standard Chartered and Liverpool Football Club in 2009.

"Through this ongoing partnership with Liverpool FC, we are able to offer exclusive and exciting opportunities. This is a once-in-a-life-time experience for any football fan and we are delighted to be giving our clients and the media the opportunity to visit Anfield," Manjang added.

Anfield is the home of Liverpool with whom Barnes made 497 appearances for and scored 108 goals in a Reds career spanning 10 years.

Barnes, who was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but played for England (79 caps), joined Liverpool in 1987 after spending six years at Watford.

At Liverpool, Barnes won the league twice (1987-88 and 1989-90), the FA Cup twice (1989 and 1992) and the League Cup once (1995).

His impressive performances for Liverpool saw him bag three individual awards; PFA Players' Player of the Year (1998) and FWA Footballer of the Year (1988 and 1990).

He left Liverpool for Newcastle in 1997 before retiring at Charlton Athletic in 1999.

Since retiring from football, Barnes has worked as a football manager, commentator and pundit.
