Former Arsenal hero Sylvain Wiltord has announced his intentions to come out of retirement.

Having retired four years ago, the former Marseille, Bordeaux and Lyon forward, now 41, tweeted:

After careful consideration, I have decided to make my comeback to football. Rendezvous on 20 April for my press conference.

It’s unclear which club will employ Wiltord, or whether this is all a bit of a stunt.

The Frenchman will always have a special place in the hearts of Arsenal fans, after he won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups with the Gunners between 2000 and 2004.

Memorably, Wiltord scored the winner for the Gunners at Old Trafford in 2002 that sealed a double for Arsene Wenger’s men.

The French forward ended up with 49 goals in 175 competitive games for the Gunners.
