A 55-year-old primary school teacher in Nakuru county has been accused of defiling a deaf, mentally ill girl while her disabled mother was away.
David Korir is said to have forced the 16-year-old into his house where he sexually assaulted her.
A neighbour who declined to be named said she saw Korir pulling the girl into his house.
"When he closed the house, I went to call neighbours and we saw him through the window with the girl on the bed. We broke into the house and rescued the girl while he escaped," she said.
The girl's mother said she initially had difficulty reporting the matter to the police since she lacked someone to guide her.
But on Monday she was able to report the matter with the help of the girl's uncle.
The family also asked the National Council for Persons with Disabilities to intervene.
Officers at the Keringet police station said they are investigating the matter after the mother recorded a statement and filled a P3 form.
Residents threatened to take the matter in their own hands saying the suspect has been taking advantage of school girls and police have failed to arrest him.
When on phone, Korir did not deny the allegations but instead sought to conceal the incident. reports.
