A video has surfaced on the internet showing a drunk Diego Maradona hitting his ex-fiancé, Rocio Oliva. In the video released , the former captain of the Argentine national football team, is seen rising from his seat and walking towards Rocio to confront her for spending too much time on her phone.
The 54-year old is heard shouting in Spanish, "Keep looking at your phone! Keep looking at your phone!" before starting to hit her with his right hand as the famous "hand of God" held a glass containing his drink.
Speaking of the incident, Maradona had this to say in his defence, "Yes, I threw her phone but I swear to God that I have never raised my hand against a woman. The episode started and ended like that. I admit to throwing the phone, but nothing else."
The video was released by Argentine television channel Canal13TV.
