Twelve students accused of torching two dormitories in Kiambogo High School in Naivasha have now been locked out of the institution until their case is heard and determined in court.

The twelve and one civilian were last month charged that on the 18th of July 2016, they burnt down two dormitories and other property worth Sh2.5m.

But as schools reopened, they were in for a rude shock after it was declared that they would have to wait longer until their case pending in court is done with.

According to Naivasha sub-county education officer Mbugua Kabaki, the students would either have to seek new schools or wait for their case to end.

Speaking on phone, the education officer noted that even in other affected schools, the students involved had not being readmitted.

''The twelve students have a pending case in court and they will have to wait until the matter is resolved before they can return to the school,'' he said.

Kabaki added that the burnt down dormitory had since been reconstructed and students had started learning ahead of the exams.

''We shall however allow the form fours in the suspended list to seat for their final exams as the pending case continues,'' he said.

On his part, Naivasha Mp John Kihagi confirmed that the burnt down dormitory had been reconstructed through the joint co-operation between parents and area CDF.

Kihagi said that Sh1.2m had been used to reconstruct the dormitory with CDF contributing half of the amount and the parents forking the rest.

''The parents approached our office seeking assistance and through the CDF emergency kit we chipped in and the dormitory is ready for use now,'' he said.

On the issue of the suspended students, Kihagi said that it was up to the management of the school and the department of education to determine their fate.

One of the parents who declined to be named however termed the move to bar their children as unfair as they had not been found guilty.

The parent noted that some of the arrested boys were innocent adding that he feared that they could be locked from school for the rest of their lives.

''We cannot get transfers to other schools and we shall be forced to wait even up to next year before the case is fully heard and determined,'' said the parent
