Hangeland also named other former teammates Dimitar Berbatov and Wilfried Zaha in his 'Lazy XI' on the Norwegian podcast Heia Fotball, though Zaha has protested Hangeland's "lies" and insists he works hard in training.
In damning assessment of his ex-colleagues, Hangeland began with Adebayor: "When we had strength workouts he would sit in the gym with just a cup of coffee and a muffin.
"I knew the guy who gave him the massages. Usually at the end of the season, the players would give all the physios a gift. But he’d massage Berbatov for hundreds of hours during the season and he would get nothing."
Hangeland also had another baffling anecdote that spoke to Adebayor's hunger pangs: "I was playing for Fulham and he played for Spurs. We were attacking and I was marking Adebayor in the midfield.
"He suddenly said, 'Ahhh, I'm hungry.' I replied, 'What?'
"'I can't wait for the game to finish, I'm so hungry,' he said. 'Do you know a good restaurant in London, Hangeland?'"
