Esther Muthomi was one of the women who were incharge of collecting donations from the congregants, when she handed over the money at the pulpit, she walked past Uhuru Kenyatta who then grabbed her hand to greet her.
“WHEN I WAS PASSING, I SAW A HAND HOLD ME. I WONDERED WHOSE IT WAS. WHEN I LOOKED DOWN, I SAW IT WAS THE PRESIDENT’S,” MUTHONI SAID.
Before she could great him properly, Uhuru Kenyatta’s security whisked her away.
“HIS SECURITY MAN THEN TOLD ME ‘PITIA HAPA MUM’. THAT IS WHEN I WAS SURPRISED. I FELT LIKE SHRINKING TO THE GROUND.”
Asked how that felt like, Muthoni said,
“NILISHUKA NIKASEMA, ‘ WOI, GHAI!”
The video of the short handshake went viral saw, Muthomi get inundated with numerous phone calls from friends and family, some from as far as Australia and the USA.
“PEOPLE KEPT TELLING ME, ‘I HEAR YOU GREETED THE PRESIDENT’,” MUHONI SAID, “IT IS A GREAT THING BUT KEPT RESPONDING TO THEM THAT I DID NOT EXPECT IT AT ALL.”
Ameomba sirikal, if she can be given another opportunity to meet the president because this time round she will be very prepared.
“I would like to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta so that I can tell him, It is I you greeted on that day. I can also bring him a live chicken because that is what i rear.”
“MR PRESIDENT, I HAVE YOUR PRESENT.”
