Different African countries have developed economically due to their surplus natural resources like oil, gold, and many others. In Africa when it comes to different economic growth different countries are improving every year and the competition is becoming intense. Here are the largest economies in Africa.

  1. Nigeria

Nigeria having the biggest population in Africa has the largest economy as well. It has GDP of $376.284bn in 2017.

2.South Africa

South Africa is the second African country to also have a really big economy. It has a GDP of of $349.299bn in 2017.

3.Egypt

Egypt even though being dry most of the time, it has been able to have a great economic growth to the point that it became third in Africa. The GDP in 2017 was $237.037bn.

4.Algeria

Algeria has also thrived when it comes to economic growth in Africa. Even though at some point it had a slow growth it was able to maintain the pace making it the fourth. The nominal GDP of $178.287bn.

5.Angola

Angola has been having a civil war that has plagued it for so many years. However, it has had a great economic growth making it fall in fifth position with a nominal GDP of  $124.209bn.
