There was no Thulani Serero in Shakes Mashaba's 23-man Bafana Bafana squad to represent the country at the 2015 Africa Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea.
Mashaba named his final selection on Tuesday afternoon in Johannesburg and Serero was the biggest name left out of the squad. Belgium-based Ayanda Patosi was another player surprisingly left out the squad.
The South Africa media were shocked that a player of Serero's calibre was left out the team. Mashaba was asked to comment and gave the following reason.
"Serero is not in the team. Other players proved to be better than him," Mashaba said.
