KWS spokesman Paul Udoto said that the lion was agitated and the only option was to shoot him down since tranquilizing it would have caused more injuries to the public.
Mohawk's killing caused a public outcry on social media, among them Ghost Mulee, who's a passionate animal activist.
A saddened Mulee was agitated by the move, coming so soon after the infamous poisoning of three lions at the Masaai Mara by herders after the lions reportedly killed two cows.
"I am deeply worried about our heritage." Said Mulee during today's morning chat with Gidi and newsreader Yusuf Juma.
"I blame the KWS rangers' complacency and going forward if the government won't salvage the situation, then our heritage will be gone", he added.
